Oklahoma Train the Trainer Schedule

Therapeutic Options Certification Session Details

Agencies are strongly encouraged to give careful consideration to the individuals they send for instructor certification. Teaching this course is demanding, requiring the instructor to lead a group for two full days through a comprehensive crisis intervention and emergency behavior support curriculum.

Instructors do not need professional licensure or credentials, nor a particular level of formal education. What is necessary is the ability to teach well.

Instructors also should be physically coordinated enough to clearly demonstrate and teach the physical interventions.

Therapeutic Options™ Instructors should be:

  • Able to thoroughly understand the course content and be able to convey it clearly.
  • Able to create supportive learning environments for training participants.
  • Effective communicators who are respected by other staff.
  • Strong advocates for people receiving services and be fluent in people-first language.
  • Confident, credible trainers and solid professional role models.
  • Committed to using positive and non-coercive practices.
  • Experienced in providing services and supports.
  • Knowledgeable about issues involving people whom they support.
  • Enthusiastic champions of the curriculum.
  • Fit and coordinated enough to provide credible instruction of the physical skills.

Please contact us in advance if you have any questions or would like assistance in identifying instructor candidates.
